Which beach is for you? Follow me as I break down the different beaches that make San Diego thrive as a County and allow me to maintain my lifegaurd tan all summer long.

Pacific Beach caters to the younger crowd in San Diego. This beach community is known for its bars and nightlife, especially around Garnet Avenue. It has a famous boardwalk with restaurants and shops, in addition to Crystal Pier, which features both a pier and a hotel. In recent years it has attracted older, more affluent residents. Homes in this area are full of value with property types ranging from 700 square feet bungalows to multimillion dollar mansions.

Ocean Beach is community that features a mix of the old and the young. Everyone from college kids to families to retired baby boomers can be found in this area. The atmosphere is laid-back in general, but on the weekends the community boasts a lively bar scene. In this community you can find plentiful antique shops, tattoo parlors, restaurants, surf shops, and coffee houses. It caters to surfing enthusiasts. Unlike many of San Diego’s other beach communities like La Jolla and Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach has few chain stores. There is a great deal of community involvement in Ocean Beach, as well, which has led to the preservation of many independent and family-owned businesses. There is also a beach reserved exclusively for dogs. The homes here are not as expensive as they are in the surrounding beachfront areas. Instead of mansions, there are plenty of smaller properties, cottages and bungalows.

La Jolla is a wealthy beach community that borders Pacific Beach. It is famous for its upscale properties, shopping and dining, including jewelry stores and boutiques, and natural beauty. George’s at the Cove, specializing in California cuisine, is one of the area’s most renowned restaurants. Some of the landmarks include Torrey Pines Golf Course, which has hosted several championship golf tournaments, Mt. Soledad Memorial, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Shell Beach is a good place to see tide pools. Snorkeling is also a popular activity here, especially in La Jolla Coves. Real estate in this area is exclusive and consists of many oceanfront million-dollar mansions.

Windansea Beach is a quieter beach than Pacific Beach and La Jolla, though it is popular with surfers. San Diego secrete surf stach of waves. The Windansea Surf Club enjoys some local notoriety. It is a good beach for families to come to and enjoy the scenery and the serenity, in addition to being an ideal place for picnicking.

Del Mar Beach has a bit of a rural feel compared to other beach communities despite being so close to the thriving city of San Diego, though it is still a popular place for recreation. It is famous for its racetrack, and attracts not only people fond of the beach but racing enthusiasts as well. The annual Del Mar fair is a popular attraction as well, helping to bring more people to this community. Del Mar real estate is made up of high priced, architecturally significant homes.

Restore Warehouse

To all investors, home flippers and remodelers this is big news!

In the Real Estate biz, one tends to pick up several tricks to the trade. I’m sure everyone agrees making money on property is a priority.  Most homes for sale in San Diego today seem to be foreclosures and short sales. The deals are tremendous although the “steals” are usually trashed and in need of rehab.  So how is this an advantage? Habitat for Humanity ReStore is the answer! If you have ”the vision” this place will be your second home during your next remodel. If you haven’t heard of Habitat for Hummanity ReStore Shop, look it up now.  This place is 15,000 square feet of donated and exchanged second hand building goods of all types. The ReStore shop is basically a Building Material Thrift Store. Because everything in the ReStore has been donated by local contractors, manufacturers and individuals, they are able to sell the materials for up to 75% under retail. That’s huge savings! A client of mine remodeled her entire kitchen for under $1,500 bucks including Granite Counters. For all you creative minds, save money and make money with the ReStore where you’ll find items like doors, lighting, plumbing, tile, windows and appliances. View items sold at the Restore here. If saving money isn’t enough, the proceeds from the ReStore Shop fund the Habitat for Humanity Non Profit Organization that believes every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. Cool way to help eliminate poverty. I almost forgot shopping for building materials at the ReStore is also a great way of going GREEN!
